This giveaway has ended. Winners have been announced here.
The Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) in Resorts World Manila (RMW) draws its curtains open to welcome back onto the Philippine stage the timeless Broadway hit and winner of the 1959 Tony Award for Best Musical, ‘The Sound of Music,’ to run starting October 15 until the 11th of December, 2011.
To give you an idea of exactly what I’m talking about, below is a video of Joanna Ampil, who plays the part of Maria Rainer, performing one of the play’s most distinguishable songs, “The Sound of Music.”
The musical play “The Sound of Music” is based on a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, a musical by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.
It is a story of Mary Rainer, a woman studying to become a nun, who is sent from her convent to be the governess to seven children of a widowed naval commander, Captain Georg von Trapp. The children, initially hostile and mischievous, came to like her, and the woman finds herself falling in love with the captain. He was soon to be married to a baroness but marries Maria instead. Maria introduces the art of singing to the children and discovers their tremendous talent.
