Jack Jones Concert Set at The KIA Theatre on December 29 and 30

Celebrate the Yuletide season with music icon Jack Jones who is set to hold a two-night concert at the KIA Theatre (formerly New Frontier Theater), Araneta Center, on December 29 & 30, 8:00 in the evening.

Produced by ManCo Productions, Inc. and Royale Chimes Concerts and Events Inc., the show is entitled Jack Jones Sings Songs From The Heart”. This is Jack’s last concert in 2015 and he is excited to be doing it in the Philippines, a country very close to his heart.

“It is always a pleasure performing to the Filipino audience because of their love for music. There’s a lot of great singers as well so it’s like one sing-along party whenever I’m on stage trying to listen to them. I’m looking forward to this show because this is the first time I will be spending Christmas season, and almost New Year, in the Philippines. I heard that Filipinos are one of the best in celebrating this time of the year,” says the great singer.

And yes, Jack will perform his signature songs plus well-loved covers and tracks from his recently-released CD called Seriously Frank, an album which celebrates and pays tribute to what would have been the 100th birthday of THE Frank Sinatra.

Adding excitement to the show is special guest Jose Mari Chan. When Jack learned that his friend Jose Mari will be appearing in the show, he immediately called him and both agreed to do a very special production number. This will surely become one of the highlights of the show. Continue reading

Masters of OPM Gathers At The “Icons At The Mall of Asia ARENA”

After the successful 2-night sold-out concert of Lady Gaga at the newly open SM Mall of ASIA ARENA, this time Original Filipino Music (OPM) artists are set to dominate the arena with the launch of Icons at the Mall of Asia Arena: Masters of OPM happening on June 16, 2012 at 8:00 pm.

Headlining the event are the performances from (in alphabetical order) Arnel Pineda, Bamboo, Basil Valdez, Christian Bautista, Erik Santos, Freddie Aguilar, Jed Madela, Jose Manalo, Jose Mari Chan, Juris, Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, Piolo Pascual, Pokwang, Regine Velasquez, The Company, Wally Bayola, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Lea Salonga, and Gary Valenciano. Hosted by Jim Paredes and Pops Fernandez.

Although it was a great effort to have an OPM concert, I felt the title is not fitting for some of the ‘artists’ included in the list. When you talk about icon, I don’t think the likes of Pokwang, and Wally & Bayola can be considered music icons. If there is anyone who deserved to be in that list, it should be the megastar Sharon Cuneta but obviously, she can’t be part of the show because of conflicting issues. But some OPM artists I personally think that should also be part of this are (some not yet an icon but obviously made an impact in the music scene) Pilita Corales, Dulce, Nonoy Zuniga, Hadji Alejandro, Dingdong Avanzado, Ariel Rivera, Charice, Yeng Constantino, Jamie Rivera, Jessa Zaragosa, Roselle Nava, Bituin Escalante, Smokey Mountain, Jovit Baldovino, Zia Quizon, Rico Blanco, Aiza Seguerra, Richard Poon, Parokya ni Edgar, Gloc 9, among others.

Anyway, hopefully there will be another concert featuring the artists I mentioned above.
