Every Filipino loves Filipinos making it big in the international scene and that includes artists that are half-Pinoy. Take the case of Charice Pempengco, Nicole Scherzinger, Bruno Mars, JabbaWockeeZ, Monique Lhuillier, David “Batista” Bautista, Vanessa Hudgens, Rex Navarrete, Enrique Iglesias, Ramiele Malubay, Thia Megia, to name a few.
And no exemption to this is the discovery of an eleven-year-old Filipino-Canadian singer named Maria Aragon who become another famous Youtube sensation for her rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” Her popularity rises more after sharing the stage with Lady Gaga herself at her Toronto concert last March. She has then made television appearances in “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in Los Angeles, “Good Morning America” in New York, and at a Canada Day celebration, she performed before British Royal Couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton and a crowd of 300,000.
Maria Aragon recently arrived in the Philippines and has released her self-titled debut album under Star Records which includes her own renditions of “Born This Way” as her carrier single, “You’re My Home” (theme song for the movie “Way Back Home”), “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing,” “Follow Your Dream,” “Can’t Smile Without You,” and original compositions “Kung Bubuksan Mo Lang Ang Puso,” and “One Hope, One Dream.”
In her @mariiiaofficial Twitter account, Maria Aragon Tweeted, “Thank you for everybody’s support and love. Because of you I am now here in the Philippines and signed under Star Records!”
She first promoted her self-titled debut album at “ASAP ROCKS” wherein she performed with Sarah Geronimo. She also appeared at the concert of Yeng Constantino and did a duet with the former “Pinoy Dream Academy” champion.
For those who can’t wait any longer, Maria Aragon shall be out in the metro for a series of Promotional Mall tours, August 28- SM Mall of Asia, and September 4- SM Megamall.
