If there’s one line that I would never forget from this 4th instalment of the Twilight Saga, that’ll be the most memorable one. And for me, Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson), delivered it really well.
Twilight Saga: The Breaking Dawn is one of the most anticipated movies of 2011, and even though the whole story is split into two, I’d say that dividing it just made the movie-goers eager to see it soon.
I had a chance to catch the block screening of this vampire movie at Robinsons Galleria last week (thanks to Jam 88.3 FM), and with a movie-goer line that gone through the other end of the mall, it proved to me that it is indeed one of the most anticipated movies of 2011.
The first half of this 4th instalment showed the continuing forbidden love between Edward and Bella (Kristen Stewart). And with Jacob (Taylor Lautner) still sulking himself in the darkness, the story tells the blossoming affair of a human and a vampire that led to a marriage. Yes, on this part, Edward and Bella finally tied the knot. And with the arising pressure for Edward to turn Bella into being one of them, more issues erupted that awaken the silent voices of the other clans of vampires and werewolves from the different parts of the world.
First, the movie didn’t show some character build up on other vampires. I believe that those vampires will play a vital role on the second part of this story, so they should’ve shown a glimpse on what to expect from them. Showing three or four other vampires on the wedding scene wasn’t enough, I think.
Second, acting wise, I find all of them did really well, EVEN BELLA. But there are times that her acting gave me the opportunity to close my eyes and have some snooze. I guess that’s just they way she acts. Hehe.
Third, vampire make-ups fail big time on this film. The inconsistency on Edward’s make-up gave me something to laugh about. It is as if we were back to book 1 again. The only make-up that I really appreciate was the one with Bella, when she was having her half-vampire child. Her make-up was really believable and really creepy.
And lastly, the special effects or CGI, though they didn’t fail us on this one, they fell a little short in giving us extraordinary effects. I know that the most awaited fight scene will take place on the second part of this movie, but giving us a taste of it, I guess, wouldn’t hurt to the second part that much. When Jacob imprinted to Renesmee, I’m expecting an out-of-this-world interpretation of it, but what we saw were just montage scenes that were kinda okay but not worth remembering. In short, I was not imprinted to the imprint of werewolves on the movie.
So, if you are planning to catch this movie, though I don’t want to disappoint you, don’t expect too much. It was okay, yes, but not what I am hoping it would be. Comparing the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to the first part of The Breaking Dawn, The Breaking Dawn disappointed me in many ways.
But since I am really a fan, I want you all to see it and have your own verdict. Anyways, seeing those hot werewolves and vampires are still worth watching for. Hahaha!
The Twilight Saga… Breaking Dawn Part 1 is still showing in theaters worldwide.
