Horrible Bosses

Horrible Bosses did a special screening at the Powerplant Mall last September 14, 2011 and I was one of the few movie bloggers invited to watch it in advance. Thanks once again Ma’m Sionee and sir Jay for the opportunity.

Although I have seen a few films of Jason Bateman and Jason Sudekis, what intrigues me to see this film is the presence of Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell. The two acted up a totally different character you have never seen yet in their previous movies. And that’s enough reason to interest me to see Horrible Bosses.

Here’s a synopsis of the movie:

Management candidate Nick (Jason Bateman) has been logging 12-hour days and eating everything his twisted supervisor Harken (Kevin Spacey) dishes out, towards the promise of a well-earned promotion. But now he knows that’s never going to happen. Meanwhile, dental assistant Dale (Charlie Day) has been struggling to maintain his self-respect against the relentless X-rated advances of Dr. Julia Harris (Jennifer Aniston), when she suddenly turns up the heat. And accountant Kurt (Jason Sudakis) has just learned that his company’s corrupt new owner Pellit (Colin Farrell), is not only bent on ruining his career but plans to funnel toxic waste into an unsuspecting population.

So there goes the plot. And the question now is how they can at least get even with their bosses. And so their misadventure starts when they decided they will plot the ultimate murder plan to get rid of their horrible bosses. The movie isn’t boring. They managed to make every scene funny. It was decent enough to be called a comedy movie. The three lead actors did a good performance, with each character not overshadowing one another. But my favorite would have to be Jason Sudakis. He was impressive enough when I first saw him at “Hall Pass” with Owen Wilson. And he is hilarious.

Jennifer Aniston and Charlie Day

The movie also showcased too much gay jokes. It isn’t foul or offensive and it’s actually funny whenever Jason Sudakis delivers it. The only thing that I didn’t get is how someone like Dale (Charlie Day) resists the super hot dentist played by Jennifer Aniston? If the doctor was fugly, I would understand completely. It’s so unrealistic that you can’t be tempted with a man-eater that looks like Jennifer Aniston! And the weird part is, Dale is not even gay! Lol.

I can’t say much about Kevin Spacey because this actor is always good in any role he portray. But I like him doing comedy because even though he acts serious, he is funny in this movie. And about Colin Farrell, wow, he is unrecognizable in this movie. The transformation is hilarious! He changed his looks into some weirdo-looking freak and it’s way convincing! The only problem though is he never gets to have more scenes here. Looking at him is enough to make you laugh. And don’t forget Jennifer Aniston! She is totally different here. She is soooo HOT in this movie.

And before I forgot, Jamie Foxx is also part of this movie. He plays the “murder consultant”. He is actually only doing a special participation here but he still delivers good comedy with all that pouting and murder tips.

Don’t expect a “Hangover” type of comedy with “Horrible Bosses”. But if you hate your boss, do watch this movie. Or maybe you treat your boss to watch a Horrible Bosses with you. It may sounds awkward but at least he/she will get the hint. ;-)

Horrible Bosses stars Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, Donald Sutherland, Julie Bowen and directed by Seth Gordon. Opens September 21 in Philippine theaters under New Line Cinema and released thru Warner Bros. Pictures.

And since this was will be showing late in the Philippines, Horrible Bosses will be available on Blu-ray, DVD and for Download starting October 11!
