Movie Review: What’s Your Number?

Whats Your Number

What’s Your Number? talks about   sex and finding the right partner.

And the movie paired two Hollywood actors that really jives together. In “What’s Your Number?”,  Anna Faris (Scary Movies, Yogi Bear, House Bunny) plays Ally Darling, who after reading a magazine article that leads her to believe she’s going to be forever alone, begins a wild search for the best “ex” of her life with the help of a playboy Colin Shea played by Chris Evans (Captain America, The Avengers).

“How many assholes do I have to meet before I ended up with the right one?” In Ally Darling’s case, it’s 20 sex encounters before she realizes it’s about time she start looking for the “right one”.

This romantic-comedy is based on the book by Karyn Bosnak entitled “20 Times A Lady” and although it received mostly negative reviews abroad, for me, it’s actually a nice, feel-good movie. And it actually beats “Friends with Benefits” with the number of sex-y scenes! :-D

I’ve known Anna Faris thru the spoof movie Scary Movies and the naive and gullible dumb blonde worked well for her. It’s actually hard on my part because her character in Scary Movies keeps on popping out every time I watch her succeeding movies.

Although she looks a bit old now playing this kind of role, her acting is still genius. My favorite part of the movie is when she tried the British accent and ended up sounding like Borat! Hahahaha! Chris Evans, who’s a little disappointing (not for his acting) with his a little bit boring Captain America movie, redeems himself here as a romantic funny guy. Anyone who didn’t get to see his bulky physique in Captain America will drool after seeing What’s Your Number? because Chris Evans is always naked in most of his scenes here.   Not to be outnumbered, Anna Faris also showed more skin here especially in their skinny dipping scene and the most romantic scene – the naked basketball game!

But this movie is not really just sex. You’ll actually learn something from this movie. And it’s about accepting the real you.

In a world we are living today, how many are really virgins nowadays? You maybe lucky to met one but if you happen to meet that perfect someone (except he/she slept with a dozen or more partners), will that change your mind? In my case, no. Because love accepts the person for what he/she was before. Of course, it is a different case if that will still happen even if you’re in a relationship now.

If you’ll ask me if this is an enjoyable movie to watch, hell yeah. And it’s nice to watch this with someone you love. Because the movie is about acceptance and being true to your self. It also doesn’t hurt to see the occasional sex because with Anna Faris and Chris Evans doing it, it’s not just romantic, it’s actually quite hilarious! Hahahahaha!

“What’s Your Number?” also stars Ari Graynor, Joel McHale, Chris Pratt, Zachary Quinito, Mike Vogel, Martin Freeman, Andy Samberg, Thomas Lennon, Anthony Mackie and Dave Annable. Directed by Mark Mylod and released under 20th Century Fox distributed by Warner Bros. Know more about the movie here.

Thank you ma’m Mae Vecina for inviting me at the advance screening held at Powerplant Mall.
