News broke that Asiansation Christian Bautista was deported from Indonesia last Friday afternoon (January 27) after he was caught violating immigration rules by working on a visiting visa.
The news was first reported at the Jakarta Post and later posted at Interaksyon (news website of TV 5).
“We will deport him this [Friday] afternoon,” a spokesman of the immigration directorate general at the Law and Human Rights Ministry, Sukoadji said on Friday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
According to reports, Christian Bautista, who gained stardom in Indonesia via his hit single “The Way You Look at Me,” arrived in Jakarta on a 30-day visiting visa on Wednesday but apparently used the opportunity to hold a concert at Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang later that evening.
The singer-actor (and star of the hit TV series “The Kitchen Musical“), was said to have been questioned for two hours by immigration officers.
But Christian Bautista and his handler are quick to deny the rumors. In an official statement sent by STAGES (Christian Bautista’s management group in Manila):
“Christian Bautista was not deported. Whatever immigration problems encountered were legally settled. He entered Jakarta last january 25 to do a special show and guest in a TV show. In fact, Christian Bautista trended again in Indonesia because of that guesting.
He is on his way to Singapore and will be back in Manila tomorrow. He will be back in Indonesia for a Valentine Show at the prestigious Hotel Mulia.”
Also, Christian Bautista sent a message to his Twitter follower saying: “Hi friends! No I was not deported, there was just some visa issues that needed clarification with the immigration in Indonesia everything is ok, il be back in Indonesia during valentines day :)” Posted Friday 27th January 2012.
This deportation issue also trended in Indonesia.
