Markki Stroem recently uploaded his new music video featuring his dark and soulful original composition “Steal Your Soul“.
The music is a collaboration with fast-rising Pinoy Jazz singer Zia Quizon whose hit song “Ako Na Lang” topped radio and video charts last year.
The video, on the other hand, is presented by Generation-M in association with E-Strategy with Takeyuki Onishi as Director of Photography, and Directed by Carlo Alvarez. “Steal You Soul” features young Filipina-Spanish model/actress Coleen Garcia who is also a talent of ABS-CBN‘s Star Magic.
The collaboration of Markki Stroem and Zia Quizon is refreshing to the ear because it is not the usual OPM that you’ll hear nowadays. Maybe it helps that Markki Stroem is also half-Norweagan that he have brought a new sound to the Pinoy music. There’s the catchy beats that you will definitely have LSS (last song syndrome) after listening to it. His voice is soothing to the ears and really soulful. I personally loved his new music and I hope that he will stick to that kind of genre and not to the Pop music we’ve first known of him.
The video doesn’t disappoint at it also shown the dark side of his music. Although it didn’t show Zia Quizon in the video. It’s not really important though because Zia Quizon’s participation in “Steal Your Soul” is not really a duet but her as back-up vocals only (I wonder if I used the right term). The cinematography is excellent giving you an impression that it’s taken from a movie. Anyways, there’s Coleen Garcia who wore a 2-piece bathing suit so, that’s something the men will look forward to in this video. And for the ladies, a shirtless Markki Stroem is also shown and the guy is back in shape in time for his upcoming pre-Valentines concert at the Music Museum entitled “Make Me Sweat” with the G-Force.
Here are some of the screencaps of “Steal Your Soul” music video:
Here’s the lyrics of “Steal Your Soul” (composed/arranged/written/produced by Markki Stroem himself):
Verse 1:
Looking through the glass I see you smiling at me
Watching as you slowly slip on your pair of jeans
From my mountain top
I feel my heart beat stop
Over and over and over and over
Chorus:
I steal your soul, I steal your soul
I steal it
More and more each day
Your heartbeat grows, your heartbeat grows
In me oh, in me
Each and everyday
Verse 2:
I watch you in the park carefully reading a book
You stare at me and smile, don
