Controversial American writer Dan Brown calls Manila ‘gates of hell’ in his new novel entitled “Inferno“.
In the said novel, one of the fictional characters, went to the Philippines for a mission. She expected the country to be “wonderland of geological beauty… Upon setting foot in Manila however, the character was “gape in horror.” One after the other, the book described chaotic Manila. “six hour traffic jams, suffocating pollution, horrifying sex trade.”
Although the book is said to be fictional, I felt the Philippines (or some Filipinos) is not yet ready for another controversy as it may somehow affects the image of Manila. But hopefully, Dan Brown can visit Manila for a book tour and see for himself the difference from what he mentioned in his novel.
