Universal Music Group International Launches First K-POP Boy Group ‘Boys Republic’

Last March 4, top rating terrestrial TV news program ‘MBC News Desk’ spotlighted on Universal Music Group Korea and their new boy group Boys Republic which is the first K-POP boy group under Universal Music Group International.

The multi-talented idol group consists of Jo, One Junn (Leader / Lead Vocal), Choi, Da Bin (Vocal), Lee, Su Woong (Vocal), Park, Sung Jun (Rap/Dance) and Kim, Min Su (Rap/Dance) who were trained for the past two years to do dance, ballads, and even hip hop, is now set on international stardom.

One of Korea’s top producer and composer Geun Tae Park, who wrote songs for IU, Ji Young Baek and produced Davici, f(X), joined the team as chief music adviser. For this project, Geun Tae Park worked with Dsign Music (the Norwegian composer team who wrote works for Girls’ Generation, TVXQ, f(x), BoA) for international level music that to be widely acceptable in global market. Also joining the team is Hae Ik Jung, former president of SM Entertainment, as promotion expert.

Geun Tae Park stated, “Our goal is to create content that has an appeal in global market.” In order to create an international phenomenon, the members have been training in the fields of singing, dancing, acting, languages, and cultures of other countries.

Jeju Air – Korea’s No. 1 low cost airline, announced on April 2013 that Boys Republic as their ambassador. Jeju Air stated “We’ve chosen Boys Republic as our model based on their potential in the Asian market. We will contribute our own way to make K-POP even more flourishing in the Asian region with Boys Republic.”

Boys Republic released the songs ‘Orange Sky’ and their latest single, 전화해 집에(Party Rock) now available for downloads.

Unlike other KPOP groups, Boys Republic are more reachable to fans. Under the slogan of ‘Be Our Citizen’, the boys went to public and conducted several street campaigns as pre-promotion, talking and getting friendly with their potential followers and captivate them to be their fans.

Watch out for Boys Republic debut album which will also be available in the Philippines exclusively under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines).
