Richard Yap Returns As Chef In Latest Chowking Commercial

I’ve been an instant fan of Richard Yap (complete name: Richard Edison Yap) when I first met him during the press conference for My Binondo Girl. The Cebuano actor/businessman has that charming appeal even though he looks reserved and suplado. He played the strict Chinese father of Kim Chiu‘s charcter in the hit teleserye which aired last year.

His character name “Papa Chen” became a household name even after the show ended. He then appeared as guests in other ABS-CBN shows like Maalaala Mo Kaya: Gayuma episode, and Walang Hanggan, and later, stars in the phenomenal TV series Be Gentle With My Heart opposite Jodi Sta. Maria.

In my previous blog I mentioned that I doubted their onscreen chemistry as I didn’t expect Jodi Sta. Maria to pull off such character, and that Richard Yap looks older for her (older in a sense that he plays a dad with 3 kids and Jodi a naive young probinsya tuned yaya). But after watching each episodes and kilig moments, it only proves how great they were as Sir Chief and Maya (the actors’ characters). The show even gets the highest TV ratings for a noontime slot, awarded by prestigious award giving body, a hit TV soundtrack, and now a world tour!

But I am not going to talk about his show but his latest commercial for Chowking. And it’s not surprising as he was first noticed and discovered thru his first Chowking commercial and his photos still visible in some Chowking restaurant. I saw his commercial just recently and since his fans were searching our website for some post about his latest commercial, I might as well share this to our readers. I didn’t get much information about the new TVC so I just did some video screencap and uploaded the TVC in our own YouTube account.

Here’s Richard Yap’s Chowking Pancit Canton TVC:

Aside from Chowking, the soon to be 46-year actor (he is born May 18, 1967) is currently endorsing Amigo Segurado, Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, Beverly Hills Polo Club Leather Collection, Magnolia Fruit Drink, and C-lium Fibre.

I’m hoping Richard Yap will get more recognition (same with the whole cast of Be Careful with My Heart) and endorsements as well. I personally wished to see them on magazine covers and billboards.
