For MEGA Magazine‘s 22nd anniversary offering, they put Tyra Banks on its cover.
Tyra Banks is a supermodel, media mogul, inventor of the “smize”, and host of popular TV shows “Tyra”, and “America’s Next Top Model”. She thought everyone to look “fierce” or push our derrières to achieve a perfect “booty tooch” with our selfies because this is what Tyra (she’s long been elevated as a single-named phenomenon) has taught us cycle after cycle in her award-winning reality show America’s Next Top Model, a media sensation that has spawned numerous versions such as Asia’s Next Top Model, and attracted top brands like hair care specialist TRESemme.
Now she’s looking mighty fierce—smizing of course– on the cover and in the pages of MEGA Magazine, the Philippines’ Best Fashion Magazine, and wearing specially-made outfits from some of the country’s top designers. On her cover, Tyra wears a black embellished dress by Rajo Laurel.
The shoot took place in New York City, with the MEGA Magazine team flying straight into the Polar Vortex that brought the city to sub-zero temperatures. Despite inclement weather, the shoot went on with MEGA Editor-In-Chief and One Mega Group CEO Sari Yap and MEGA Executive Creative Director Suki Salvador overseeing operations. Tyra proved to be the consummate professional, a true supermodel, taking one sublime picture after the other. The accompanying interview chronicles her story, starting with her awkward childhood to her supermodel life, until her latest incarnation as a media queen.
