Healthy Burger Options at The Ostrich Farm, Pasay City

Nowadays, about a hundred of different restaurants and food joints have been sprouted in different parts of the metro and its neighboring provinces – all offering the most eye-catching, mouthwatering and at the same healthy dishes they could come up. I’ve been to some and tried their pride dishes, and to be honest, I never expected healthy food could be that enjoyable. But there’s one thing that I didn’t find in them, something that made my first visit at The Ostrich Farm worthwhile and worth trying again.

To most of Filipino, rice meals or hot soup has been their comfort food. To some, like most of my friends, there’s pizza and chocolates, but for me, I don’t say no to a burger, most especially to a good and filling one.

Just recently, as I visit Blue Bay Walk in Pasay City, I discovered the newly opened burger joint The Ostrich Farm that offers not just the most comforting burger but also the most delectable and healthiest one too.

Running under the umbrella of Soguilon Foods Corporation, the company behind the famous food joints like Garage 88 and Oinky’s, and catering business Banquet, The Ostrich Farm is the latest project of the company that aims to share the goodness of ostrich.

“Growing up in Cotabato with my parents who owns and run an ostrich farm, I must say that I’m very familiar with the taste and healthy benefits of these birds. And with the boom of healthy restaurants in the metro, we’ve decided to bring the industry here in Pasay, and cater to the growing market of health enthusiasts,” says Kristine Lim, Chairwoman and CEO of Soguilon Foods Corporation.

“A lot of people in the metro might think that having ostrich meat is illegal, no, it’s wrong. Ostrich are not endangered, hence having their meat is legal and in fact safer and healthier,” she added.

It is said that ostrich’s meat is 15% healthier than our regular beef and since these flightless birds are raise on a free range, ostrich meat is low in fat (only 1.4 g per 100 g meat), low in kilojoules (only 377 kJ per 100 g meat), low in collagen (most digestible red meat), rich in protein (a high 22% per 100 g meat), and rich in iron (great for people with an active lifestyle).

The highlight of anyone’s visit here at The Ostrich Farm, Blue Bay Walk, Pasay City is this Sunrise Burger, which is composed of Ostrich patty sandwiched between Sesame Buns, BLT, pickles, caramelized onion, chili con carne, and a sunny side up egg. Every order also comes with a good serving of cheesy and crunchy fries with a tomato ketchup and cheese dip.

You’ll be surprise with this burger because (1) the look and the colors were spot on attractive; (2) the serving size was significantly fantastic, a couple could even share on this one; (3) the taste was heavenly delicious, you wouldn’t notice that the patty is an ostrich and much more to your surprise that it taste even better than a Wagyu Beef; and (4) no aftertaste after devouring this delightful meal.

It was so big that it took me more than 30 minute or so to finish it. It was so delicious that I can’t get over it. And it was so healthy that the next morning, I want it again.

Aside from this luscious burger, I got to try their healthier Farm Salad, which has fresh lettuce and salad dressing topped with cucumber, mushroom, Ostrich meat, tomatoes, strawberries and hard boiled egg on the side. Then, there’s the Cheese Balls, which are perfect for kids due to its oozing pure cheesy goodness. Kids couldn’t say no too to their Meatball Pasta, which has juice Ostrich-made meatballs; and Farmer’s Nachos, which comes with Chili Con Carne that is made of Ostrich meat, salsa and cheese dip.

For some thirst quencher, one could find serenity with their version of Detox Water, which is composed of mint leaves, basil leaves, and some slices of cucumber, lemon, orange, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, green and red apples.

Capping of my visit here at The Ostrich Farm, I had their very thick Hot Chocolate, which is awaken my senses, and their Dessert in a Jar, which is a bottle of sweetness and love.
