It might have been a bit of a while since you heard of him in the mainstream, but this year marks his return to the mainstream’s limelight after living the musician’s dream for the past couple of years, touring and entertaining our kababayans both here and abroad, writing screenplays, and recording his new album.
This year surely looks like a busier one for Jimmy Bondoc, with a full-length indie film in the works coming this second quarter of 2015, Jimmy Bondoc explores and ventures into his career as actor and director of this comedy film set to be shown at the Music Museum around May.
The film will feature 9 songs from his new country-style album which will be released as the soundtrack for this film, coinciding just in time for his birthday celebration. His radio gig The RnB Show, which he co-hosts with Duncan Ramos, originally a program from 97.9 Natural, is also moving to a different station come March. He has also been chosen as one of the regular judge and mentor on TV5’s newest singing competition, Rising Stars. Also slated for April is his Kapamilya… Deal or No Deal guesting.
Trending on social media recently, Jimmy Bondoc gamely played out as hurado or guest judge for the noontime show on ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime for its Pinasikat segment. Here, he gamely joked with co-host Myrtle Sarrosa after being challenged to make sampol or share their talents.
Because of his initially sad reactions after being told repeatedly that he would be unable to do his sampol due to the show’s time constraints, he was teased by co-hosts Billy Crawford and Vhong Navarro that he would again be unable to be accommodated for his performance, despite Jimmy Bondoc already bearing his guitar for a sampol.
Known for his original hits “The Man I Was With You“, “Akin Na Lang Sana Siya” and the timeless “Let Me Be The One“, Bondoc also plays with the band alongside Luke Mejares, Paolo Santos and Dj Myke for the band Sabado Boys. His recent stints include serving as resident juror on the Philippine adaptation of the Sing If You Can franchise, Twist and Shout and releasing his most recent album in 2010, Ang Mahiwagang Bisikleta at Ang Huling Makata.
With his new ventures to different creative fields, funny Jimmy is set to give everyone hearty laughs and songs that would make us feel every bit alive.
