World eight-division boxing champion and Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao renewed his commitment to be an Ambassador and spokesperson for Habitat for Humanity Philippines last January 4.

Before the contract signing, Manny Pacquiao also led the devotion program at the Habitat for Humanity Philippines headquarter, where he shared how God changed him for the better.

The ‘People’s Champ’ signed a new memorandum of agreement indicating his commitment to support Habitat for Humanity’s “WeBuild Campaign”, which is kicking off early this year. The agreement also outlines the congressman’s P5-Million donation, which will be used to partially fund 195 houses for families in Glan, Sarangani.

Fernando Zobel De Ayala, chair of the Habitat for Humanity Asia-Pacific Capital Campaign Steering Committee; Charlie Ayco, Habitat for Humanity Philippines chief executive officer; Bong Recio, Habitat for Humanity Philippines national board president; and Ilo Reyes, member of the board of trustee of the Habitat for Humanity Philippines.
WE BUILD. Present during the contract signing are Mr. Fernando Zobel De Ayala, chair of the Habitat for Humanity Asia-Pacific Capital Campaign Steering Committee; Mr. Charlie Ayco, Habitat for Humanity Philippines chief executive officer; Mr. Bong Recio, Habitat for Humanity Philippines national board president; and Mr. Ilo Reyes, member of the board of trustee of the Habitat for Humanity Philippines.

The families — mostly composed of fisherfolk and sari-sari store vendors — will be living in “Pacman-Tata Yap Ville” in Barangay Tango in Glan, a housing project of the congressman.

Each duplex unit is 32 square metres on an 80-square metre lot area. The 2.8-hectare site includes a multipurpose centre, a community park and a concrete stage that can be used for community’s special events.

“I’m supporting Habitat, yung campaign nila na mas marami pang pamilya ang mabigyan ng bahay…” Manny Pacquaio said, adding “’Pag ikaw ay nagbigay sa Habitat, 100% napupunta talaga sa tao at nagagawa ang bahay. Pag nakita mo ang pamilya na nagkaroon ng bahay at masaya sila tapos parte ka dun sa kasiyahan nila ay ang saya ng pakiramdam mo.”

Manny Pacquiao also announced plans to purchase more land for permanent houses, much to the delight of his constituents.
