In choosing a smartphone, it is best that we choose a phone suitable to our lifestyle in terms of style, built, feature, and most importantly, price.
One of the most aggressive and reputable in the market now known for making strong and amazing devices like laptops, desktops, tablets and android phones, accessories and other computer related devices is the ASUS brand.
My personal favorite series that Asus created is the ZEN series. From ZenBook with 11.6” ultrabook, I shifted to ZenBook Pro 15.6”. What made me choose these are primarily the specs that comes with it, and on top of it, the solid built. Most importantly, I was amazed at the premium finish. Being the premium variant of Asus, I can also feel the premium feel in the smart phone variant – like the ZenFone series.
One of the most successful android phone that came out this early 2015 is the Asus ZenFone 2 due to its aesthestics, solid built, well designed ergonometric shape, stunning features and reasonable pricing. This became one of the top choices because the specs and built are very competitive compared to other brands.
Due to its success, Asus chose to create another variant of ZenFone to cater the needs and request of the market for the 3rd quarter of 2015. Thus, they created ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0. The Asus ZenFone Laser is aesthetically identical to the ZenFone 2 with minor differences.
ZenFone 2 Laser is not only thin but also has the best grip thanks to its ergonomic arc design, with its curved back and thinnest edge measuring just 3.9mm, is designed to comfortably fit your palm for ultimate comfort without sacrificing style –the back cover features an exquisite hairline design with a metallic finish. The curve design also allows ZenFone 2 Laser to eliminate the visual and physical obstacle on the side, making it one sharp looking device even when simply place it on the table.
The Asus ZenFone 2 Laser variant is the same as dual-sim phones that is LTE ready, weighs 170gms and has a screen size of 5.5”. It has a metallic-looking back case made of plastic that is detachable for sim cards, external memory card slot and nonremovable battery for the ZenFone 2. However, thr battery is removable in the ZenFone 2 Laser that is 3000mAh.
The difference between the two is primarily the screen resolution wherein the Laser only has 720 x 1280 with 267ppi while the predecessor is 1080 x 1920 with 401 ppi both of them with Corning Gorilla Glass. Another main difference is that the Laser has a chipset of Qualcomm Snapdragon 410/615 with CPU that is Quad-core Cortex-A53 and GPU of Adreno 306 or 405, while its predecessor has a Chipset with Intel Atom Z3580/ Z3560 with CPU of Quad-core 2.3GHz/1.8GHz and GPU PowerVR G6430. Other than these, they are virtually identical.
ASUS’s trademark concentric circle design carries over to the ZenFoneline and is featured on the back rear key to complement the hairline metallic finish back cover. Each of the concentric circles features with spin pitch of only 0.13mm, which delivers the mesmerizing visual effect, just like its big brother ASUSZenBook. The delicate design is also rare to find on a smartphone within the same price zone.
The rear key, part of the ergonomic design, provides the most intuitive way to use your smartphone. Using your index finger, as you naturally would on countless real-world situations;not only adjust the volume but also use it forother functions like taking a selfie.
Though both phones have a front camera of 5MP and a rear camera of 13MP which shots 4128 x 3096 pixels with dual tone flash, the laser variant as the name implies mainly uses laser technology that can auto focus the camera almost-instantly (0.3 seconds to auto-focus). That is why you almost always get a clear shot unlike other smart phone cameras that blurs or auto-focuses first taking a shot which unfortunately misses the perfect shooting moment.
To sum it all up, the Asus ZenFone Laser is a phone that is priced in the mid-range market but offers premium quality experience with premium quality built and a laser-like-smooth camera experience. Shooting in an instant never felt this good.
