After appearing in the 2015 blockbuster film My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore alongside Vic Sotto and Ai Ai delas Alas, the phenomenal love team, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, collectively known as “AlDub” now stars in their first full-length movie “Imagine You and Me”.
The film, shot in Como, Italy in May 9-18, was directed by Mike Tuviera, whose works includes “The Promise,” “Super Inday and The Golden Bibe,” “Yaya and Angeline: The Spoiled Brat Movie,” “Shake, Rattle & Roll” franchise, and the critically-claimed “The Janitor”. The thirty-something TV and Music director is known for his stylized filming techniques. Direk Mike is the son of TAPE Inc. chairman, Antonio Tuviera.
In an interview, director Mike Tuviera mentioned that the script was tailored-fit to Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza. They created the original story with the concept of not making it looks like the same characters they portray in Eat Bulaga’s ‘Kalye Serye’.
“When it was finally decided na gagawa talaga ng Aldub movie, ilan yung pinrepare namin na concepts, it all catered to Alden and Maine. Kasi we felt na we knew them well enough kung ano yung mga strengths nila,” said director Mike Tuviera.
“One of my early suggestions was to not do a remake, kasi ‘yun yung number one na suggestion ng mga tao. Sabi ko noon, I’m not gonna do a remake because Alden and Maine deserve more than that, they deserve something original, and they deserve something written for them,” he added.
Maine Mendoza plays the optimistic Gara, a hardworking OFW who believes in destiny, romance, and true love; while the Andrew (played by Alden Richards) is a guy who is simply too practical and jaded to believe in the rambles of fate.
The film is to be released on July 13, 2016, 3 days before AlDub’s 1st anniversary on July 16, under APT Entertainment, GMA Films, and M–Zet TV Production, Inc.
