City of Dreams Manila volunteers headed by Property President Geoff Andres trooped to the San Antonio Elementary School, Paranaque City to take part in the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela, a clean-up and beautification drive of public schools in preparation for the coming academic year.

Some 120 staff volunteers exchanged their work clothes to tees and jeans as they cleaned and painted walls, fixed windows and doors of 12 schoolrooms, bringing with them paints, brushes and carpentry tools in the spirit of “bayanihan”, manifesting their dedication to community service and commitment to City of Dreams’ corporate social responsibility program.

“We join the community and share the vision of the Department of Education through the BrigadaEskwela program to provide every child access to proper school facilities and foster an environment that is conducive to learning,” said Mr. Andres. “We hope to give these children in San Antonio Elementary School a beautiful, clean, and safe place to learn and start a bright future.” Congressman of Paranaque’s Second District Gus Tambunting and school principal Gerry Lumaban hailed the City of Dreams volunteers.

Currently on its 14th year, Brigada Eskwela is the DepEd’s program that provides safe and clean learning spaces for Filipino students through the repair and rehabilitation of public schools across the country. It aims to prepare schools for the coming school year and to promote volunteerism among the members of the community – particularly parents, students, teachers, local government employees and officials, individuals, and the private sector.

Since the integrated resort’s pre-opening phase in 2014, City of Dreams Manila has actively taken part in community building as part of its long-term and sustainable corporate social responsibility program. About three to four activities are held each month by various business units for the welfare of orphans and children, indigent communities, care for the elderly, preservation of the environment, and public health and safety, among others.
