“Wansapanataym” Imparts Enduring Lessons To Kids

For almost two decades, ABS-CBN values-laden series “Wansapanataym” has inspired different generations of viewers and shared lessons that left a mark on their hearts.

Rondel Lindayag, the show’s business unit head, witnessed this first-hand when meeting fans influenced by the show through the years.

“When we attend award ceremonies, students come up to me and share their memories of ‘Wansa.’ They would tell me about a particular episode that stood out for them and defined their childhood,” said Rondel.

However, despite the changing landscape of television and technology, viewers’ support for the show remains strong, shared Rondel.

“We go along with the changes in technology, but the story and our storytelling remain the same. We share the same lessons but adapt to what is current and on trend. I think love teams are a big hit today because the audience can relate to their struggles with their parents, and the feeling of falling in love for the first time,” he said.

“Wansapanataym’s” first episode titled “Mahiwagang Palasyo” also featured the popular love team of Judy Ann Santos and Rico Yan in 1997. It told the love story of a boy and a princess who fought for their love despite their differences.

Its notable episodes also include “Kapirasong Langit,” which taught love and acceptance, “Bessy Basura,” which tackled proper garbage disposal, and “Mahiwagang Paru-Paro,” which featured the unconditional love of parents for their children.

Meanwhile, the magic continues this month in “Wansapanataym Presents: Annika Pintasera” starring Julia Montes. She plays Annika, a lady who has a high regard of herself, and was cursed to be trapped inside a painting. But she will have the chance to escape if she gets a true love’s kiss.

This Sunday (May 7), Annika faces another challenge as she starts to run out of time in breaking the spell cast on her. However, she will find a man with a pure hear that she thinks she can help her from escaping the magic painting.

Will Annika be able to break the spell? What will Jerome (JC Santos) feel about Annika meeting another man?

Don’t miss the values shared in “Wansapanataym Presents: Annika Pintasera” every Sunday after “The Voice Teens” on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167).
