It’s been 13 years since Emma Bunton a.k.a. Baby Spice has released a solo album and now she’s back with a brand new album entitled “My Happy Place“.
Her last album “Life In Mono” was released in 2006 and produced the Top 3 UK single “Downtown“. The 43-year-old Spice Girl took to social media to announce release of her new album ‘My Happy Place‘ on April 12 via BMG Records, and the premiere of her new single, “Baby Please Don’t Stop“.
The first single “Baby Please Don’t Stop” was written by Emma Bunton with Paul Barry and Patrick Mascall. Noise11 website describes the song as a storming sixties influenced smooth pop classic.
Other tracks from the album includes a duet with Robbie Williams on a brand new version of the Spice Girls Christmas 1996 #1 single ‘2 Become 1’, with Will Young on ‘I Only Want To Be With You’, Josh Kumra on ‘Come Away With Me’, and her fiancé and former Damage member Jade Jones on ‘You’re All I Need To Get By’.
“The reason I called the album ‘My Happy Place’ is because my happy place is with my family, with my friends, listening to music and being in the studio. All those things came together on this album. While recording it my kids came to the studio, my friends came down, my mum listened to every song over and over again. Being in the studio I just feel so happy,” Emma Bunton revealed.
“As you get older you feel more confident because actually your priorities change, and my family have become my focus, but this album is like the icing on the cake. Being able to write, record and perform is definitely that extra sprinkle of magic,” she added.
Emma Bunton has sold over 85 million records as a member of the all conquering Spice Girls, the most successful female pop group of all time. As a solo artist she has had seven UK Top 10 hits and two UK Top 10 albums.
She will be joining her fellow Spice Girls members Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Horner for a 13 date UK and Ireland tour starting this coming June 2019.
