Fashion meets Art AGAIN this Holiday season as fashionalistic brand Freeway combines the best of both worlds with the latest installment of the most-loved National Artist Collectors’ Series. This Holiday 2011 collection features the works of National Artist for Visual Arts, Vicente Manansala.
In the past years, Freeway has featured National Artists Nick Joaquin (Literature), Ang Kiukok (Visual Arts), Jose Garcia Villa (Literature), Ramon Valera (Fashion Design) and F. Sionil Jose (Literature) who was the first living National Artist in the Series. This is the 6th installment of the series which was creatively originated in 2009.
Vicente Manansala, our beloved well known Philippine cubist painter and illustrator, reinterpreted or indigenized cubism as he drew his themes from the familiar Filipino environment. Some of his masterpieces are Madonna of the Slums, a portrayal of mother and child from the countryside who became urban shanty residents once in the city; and Jeepneys where Manansala combined the elements of provincial folk culture with the congestion issues of the city. Manansala was proclaimed National Artist for Painting in 1982.
All items will have their own gift packaging and a swing tag of Manansala’s bio. View the entire collection here.
