TW Steel Launches David Coulthard Special Edition Watch In The Philippines

 

The13-time Formula One winner David Coulthard took Manila by storm yesterday as he, together with the Lucerne Group of Companies‘ Managing Directors Ivan and Emerson Yao unveiled the David Coulthard Special Edition Watch, the newest addition to TW Steel‘s exquisite line of luxury watches.

“I’m thoroughly enjoying working with TW Steel as an ambassador so I guess it was only natural that the next step was to produce a watch together,” stated David Coulthard, who has been the face of the brand since May last year. “I think the end result is certainly one that maintains TW Steel’s bold appeal while it perfectly reflects my own appreciation for subtle yet distinctive styling.”

Media representatives flocked the Marriott Hotel in Resorts World Manila, Pasay City for the first leg of Coulthard’s visit to catch a glimpse of the Formula One celebrity and his specially designed watch, which also doubles as the introductory model for the brand’s elite CEO Tech Collection. After a talk show and Q&A segment with the media, Coulthard continued his tour at the Podium Mall’s TW Steel Boutique, the first TW Steel boutique in the world. There were photo opportunities with both the executives and Coulthard, along with a special meet-and-greet in the store. Capping off the day-long affair was the grand opening of Le Temps, a luxury watch store that houses a variety of brands, at the Resorts World Manila. After the ribbon-cutting ceremonies and a celebratory toast, the David Coulthard Special Edition watch was unveiled. A lucky participant at the cocktails was even lucky enough to own and don one on his wrist at the raffle segment.

“CEO Tech, to me, is about being the best and that’s a philosophy I know David (Coulthard) shares,” said TW Steel Chief Design Officer, Ton Cobelens, of the elite collection in the already exclusive TW Steel CEO family. “I wanted his special edition to capture people’s attention and showcase the very best we have to offer in terms of affordable luxury.   David understands and enjoys contemporary style.   As a result, his watch is simply an extension of this appreciation and it is now attainable to all those who feel the same way.”

The David Coulthard Special Edition is available in 44mm (CE4001) and 48mm (CE4002) executions. This distinguished timepiece features a steel sandblasted case while the PVD dark titanium plated bezel has also been sandblasted. Polishing the durable and sleek design is the shine-finish on the side of the bezel, along with that of the push-buttons and mid-piece crown. The grey dial features Coulthard’s name and is offset by the bold red numbering on the chronograph and tachymeter and a similarly colored chronograph secondhand. It measures time accurately to a 1/20^th of a second, given its Miyota 0S24 chronograph movement. Functional as it is stylish, the Special Edition watch also features a sapphire crystal with both executions water resistant to 10ATM.

The watch perfectly captures David Coulthard’s passion for detail while offering a bold, sophisticated look which captures the high-end lifestyle associations that come from his involvement in one of the world’s most glamorous and appealing sports.

Although officially retired from racing, the two-time Monaco Grand Prix winner David Coulthard is still very much involved in F1 as a BBC Commentator alongside Jake Humphries and Former F1 owner Eddie Jordan. He uses his distinct insight on the sport, having raced for Williams F1, McLaren-Mercedes and Red Bull Racing in 15 seasons. Throughout his career, he has blazed his own trail is racing history, having managed a total of 13 wins, 62 podium finishes and 12 pole positions. He is also the all-time leading British points scorer in F1, and is currently the 8^th highest scoring driver in the world of all time, with a career total of 535 points. Recently, the 40-year-old TW Steel ambassador announced that he will compete again in the German-based DTM series in 2011, racing for Team Mucke Motorsport.
