100, a film by Chris Martinez starring Mylene Dizon, Eugene Domingo and Tessie Tomas
Cinema One, the no. 1 cable channel in the Philippines, will take everyone through a heartwarming journey, as it presents the TV premiere of “100,” an award-winning film by Chris Martinez starring Mylene Dizon, Eugene Domingo, Tessie Tomas, Ryan Eigenenman, Cecil Paz, TJ Trinidad and Simon Ibarra.

This touching story revolves around Joyce (Mylene), who has terminal cancer and has come up with a list of 100 things she wants to do in the last three months of her life. She begins by focusing on achieving closure and making practical arrangements. Eventually, she moved on to deal with more worldly then onto spiritual matters. In her final journey, she’s consoled by her lifelong best friend Ruby (Eugene), ex-boyfriend Emil (Ryan), and her household helper Me-An (Cecil), as well as her mother (Tessie) who’s having a hard time accepting her daughter’s forthcoming death. After a series of funny and sobbing events, the movie draws into a heartrending finale.

This masterpiece written and directed by Martinez has been screened in local and international filmfests. It even won the Korea New Network (KNN) Movie Award at the 13th Pusan International Film Festival and a special award at the 15th Vesoul International Festival of Asian Films. Locally, the movie was also a big winner in the Cinemalaya Film Festival in 2008, bagging the Audience Choice, Best Actress (Mylene Dizon), Best Director (Martinez), Best Screenplay (also for Martinez) and Best Supporting Actress (Eugene Domingo) awards.

The movie also received flattering review from The Hollywood Reporter‘s Maggie Lee who wrote: “Thoughtfully scripted and performed with a delicate balance of gravity and humor, the dignified image of women represented by director Chris Martinez here is exceptional for a Philippine melodrama with mainstream aspirations. A change of scene from gritty Philippine festival films set in slums, “100” is slickly produced with a yuppie setting; its themes of family, friendship and memento mori can connect with audiences anywhere.”
