A cover with no face and no name but delivers a big message — #Unselfie. This is Preview Magazine’s statement in its December 2013-January 2014 issue as it shows its support to the #Unselfie campaign, a cause to help the victims of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
This month’s “the cover girl”, Anne Curtis,is taking the back seat and puts the movement forefront. “It’s different. It’s powerful. You’re raising awareness without using your face,” Anne talks about the cover. Unlike the previous covers of Preview Magazine that grabs your attention with its stunning cover girls/guys vamped up with layers of make-up and clothing, this issue shifts the attention to a more important cause – to give up one’s face and vanity to bring attention to the faceless.
#Unselfieis a global digital project meant to raise awareness in the wake of Super Typhoon Yolanda. Photographs of covered faces with helpful links began to dominate the world of Instagram and Twitter. “We join the rest of the world as we try to raise more awareness and more funds to help rehabilitate people and livelihoods all across the Yolanda-stricken areas by supporting the #unselfie movement.” Pauline Suaco-Juan, Editor-in-chief of Preview says.
Also in the issue is The Passion Statement wherein six local brands — Team Manila, Bleach, ProudRace, The Clothing and Northstar Printing, Artwork, House of Laurel — and six local models from Professional Models Association of the Philippines team up to affirm the Filipino spirit. This project was a collaboration spearheaded by Preview Magazine wherein statement tees are specially designed to pay tribute to the indomitable spirit of the Filipino people.
