Mall patrons can experience a grand celebration like no other by taking part in Lucky Chinatown’s festivities from February 9 to 11 featuring fabulous and entertaining spectacles that showcase the best of Chinese tradition and culture.
The celebration kicks off February 9 at 9:00 am with a colorful parade around Binondo that will culminate at the Lucky Chinatown Atrium. Following shortly at 11:00 am is a short program where local officials and leaders of the Chinese Filipino Business Club Inc. will lead the Dotting of the Eye of the Chinese Lion, Ang Pao Ceremony and the Ringing of the Ceremonial Gong, marking the official opening of the celebrations.
In the afternoon from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, mall-goers will be regaled by cultural presentations from Chinese schools and various performing groups leading the way to a fashion show by blogger Camille Co and live performances at night. At the Chinatown Walk, spectators can enjoy live performances from 8:00 pm onwards and join the Feng Shui ceremony to welcome the Year of the Snake. At the stroke of midnight, everyone will be treated to a spectacular fireworks display.
The celebration continues on February 10 from 10:00 am onwards at the Lucky Chinatown Atrium with another cultural variety show featuring festive Dragon and Lion dance numbers and a special performance from the Kim Hwa Chinese Music Ensemble in the morning. A spellbinding magic show by Jeffrey Tam 1:00 pm and a Chinese Opera number will entertain patrons in the afternoon. Things will get even more entertaining starting 3:00 pm with an acrobatic show, cultural presentations and a Feng Shui talk with Master Joy Lim, capped off by a grand fireworks display at 7:00 pm.
