ABS-CBN’s film production outfit, Star Cinema, is going all out with its line-up of big screen offerings this year as it marks its 20th anniversary.
Founded in 1993, Star Cinema is gearing up for a packed 2013, with several movies starring the Kapamilya network’s biggest and bankable stars confirmed to be in the works.
Here are some of Star Cinema’s 20th anniversary offerings local moviegoers can watch out for this year:
“A Moment in Time”
Starring: Coco Martin, Julia Montes
What we know so far: After “Walang Hanggan,” the onscreen “love team” flew to Europe to shoot scenes for the film. Coco Martin announced the big screen team-up at the “Walang Hanggan” thanksgiving concert in October.
Release date: February 13, 2013
“It Takes A Man And A Woman”
Starring: John Lloyd Cruz, Sarah Geronimo
What we know so far: Co-produced with Viva Films and directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, the third installment in the Sarah-John Lloyd series of films will see Laida (Sarah Geronimo) and Miggy (John Lloyd Cruz) go through “changes” as a couple, some years after the events seen in “A Very Special Love.”
Release date: Earlier set for a February 2013 premiere
“On The Job” (OTJ)
Starring: Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson
What we know so far: Directed by Erik Matti, the film has been two years in the making, according to Piolo Pascual. In “OTJ,” Piolo Pascual portrays a National Bureau of Investigation agent, whose job puts him at odds with his wife. Gerald Anderson, meanwhile, takes on the role of a “hitman” on the run.

Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla launching movie
What we know so far: Star Cinema PR executive Roxy Liquigan, in an interview with The Buzz magazine in its January 2013 issue, said the film will be a romantic-comedy. The untitled project is the first full-length movie Bernardo and Padilla will topbill together.

Angelica Panganiban, Angel Locsin, Toni Gonzaga, Bea Alonzo project
What we know so far: Although no subsequent details were made public since it was announced in March last year, Roxy Liquigan confirmed to The Buzz magazine that the project is still in the works, and is slated for a release some time this year. The untitled project is the first-ever team-up of four of ABS-CBN’s most recognizable leading ladies.

According to Roxy Liquigan, other Star Cinema projects lined up this year include (6) Kim Chiu and Xian Lim‘s first movie together. In an earlier interview with ABS-CBN News, the Kapamilya actor expressed his excitement for the Joyce Bernal-directed film.
“The other project (by Joyce Bernal), na horror naman, (7) for Vhong Navarro, which is co-produced by a Malaysian producer,” Roxy Liquigan said.
Film director Chito Rono, best known for his horror movies such as “Feng Shui” and “The Healing,” will likewise be directing two projects for ABS-CBN’s film production arm this year.
“Isa para kay (8) Judy Ann Santos,” Liquigan said. “At meron din para kay (9) Kris Aquino na si Direk Chito mismo ang nag-conceptualize.”
After its back-to-back horror offerings in 2012, “Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang” and “Amorosa: The Revenge,” Star Cinema’s “maindie” division is now gearing up for a comedy film starring Eugene Domingo, Jake Cuenca and Enchong Dee.
According to Eugene Domingo, Skylight Films, a division of Star Cinema, will release (10) “Tuhog.” Written by Ronnie Velasco and Jinky Laurel, the comedy project was originally submitted as a film entry to the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival.
