Clark Water Corporation, the sole provider of water and used water services in the Clark Freeport and Clark Special Economic Zones, recently launched the ‘Water Only Campaign’ encouraging employees and customers to as much as possible limit their liquid intake to purely water. This campaign promotes the health benefits of drinking water over the supposedly detoxifying or cleansing properties of other popular commercialized beverages.

Jesus D. Laigo, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, said “the importance of drinking water is oftentimes underestimated. We are now in a phase where people tend to substitute water for processed juices and carbonated beverages readily available in the market. With the ‘Water Only Campaign’, we encourage the public to rediscover the wonders of drinking water.”  Some widely-recognized and proven benefits of drinking water include headache cure, healthier skin, digestive problem and heart attack prevention, as well as the flushing out of toxins from the body.

“We are very fortunate that potable drinking water is available and readily accessible in our communities, Laigo added, citing that a study made by the World Health Organization and UNICEF disclosed that millions of people around the world do not have access to safe and potable drinking water. In fact, an estimated 1.8 million people die every year due to contaminated water, with the most common disease outbreaks being diarrhea, cholera, dysentery and typhoid. Having access to quality water therefore translates to proper sanitation, cleaner hands, and healthier bodies.”

Clark Water is a subsidiary of Metro Manila’s East Zone water concessionaire, Manila Water Company, Inc.
