Manila Pavilion Hotel, in support of World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF-Philippines) Earth Hour 2014, joined thousands of businesses across the globe by switching off selected lights in the hotel and encouraging in-house guests to turn-off unnecessary lights in their rooms for an hour.
United with almost five million people in over 100 countries, Manila Pavilion took a remarkable step in helping mitigate the negative ecological impacts of climate change when it conserved an estimate of 576.98 kilowatt-hours or almost 60 percent of its total daily energy consumption during the hour-long lights off.
“We believe that this energy-saving pledge is a significant contribution in raising awareness on climate change issues among our colleagues in the hotel industry. In the same way, we were able to convey a strong message to other individuals and businesses to take responsible action and be actively involved in conservation efforts for the environment,” Manila Pavilion Hotel’s general manager Christopher Park said.
