A good round of laughs is in store for television viewers this Sunday (February 16), as the hilarious comedy film “Raketeros” will finally be making its TV premiere on Cinema One, following its release last year for Star Cinema’s 20th anniversary.
“Raketeros,” directed by Randy Santiago, stars 90’s comedy icons Herbert Bautista, Dennis Padilla, Long Mejia, Andrew E., and Ogie Alcasid.
It details the adventures and misadventures of a group of middle-aged male friends—the cable guy, Berto (Herbert Bautista), the billiards player, Mando (Dennis Padilla), the driver, Mulong (Long Mejia), the ‘religious’ one, Andoy (Andrew E.), and the all-around singer, Julio (Ogie Alcasid). In the film, the five gather to complete the simple task of delivering an expensive gown to their rich friend’s mansion—but a series of mishaps puts them and their success in jeopardy.
In what was described as the ‘ultimate throwback’, “Raketeros” marked the first time that these comedy icons of the 90’s came together for a major project. The movie was said to have provided a feel-good break from the pace of the present day.
“This movie gives me the welcome relief that I need these days,” said Ogie Alcasid. In its review of the film, The Philippine Star called it “a new kind of comedy which is what most everybody needs in times like this when prices and the crime rate are going up, as a stress-reliever.”
End the weekend with comic relief through the television premiere of “Raketeros,” airing at 8:00pm on Sunday (February 16) and at 9:00pm on Wednesday (February 22) on the country’s number one cable channel, Cinema One (SkyCable channel 56)
