Established over a century ago to encourage women and recognise their many achievements, International Women’s Day on the March 8 as grown into a global celebration of female empowerment and strength. To mark the occasion this year, Sofitel Luxury Hotels in Asia Pacific will host a variety of unique events and promotions in the whole month of March.
In recognition of this special day, Sofitel has launched a ‘So Relaxing’ package in hotels across the region, encouraging women to pamper themselves and indulge in a little ‘me time’. Ladies who take advantage of this offer will enjoy a revitalizing stay which includes a daily luxury spa treatment for up to two (2) guests every day. Guests can select from a tempting menu of one-hour body scrubs, massages and beauty treatments that combine local massage techniques with indulgent French cosmetology.
From beautifully woven silk scarves to lacquer gifts and boxes of specially crafted pralines, ladies who book this package will also receive a distinctive gift from each Sofitel around the region that infuses French “art de vivre” with local cultural elements.
The ‘So Relaxing’ package is available across 25 beach and city destinations in the Asia Pacific and is valid for stays until March 31, 2014. Guests across the region will also be able to enjoy a uniquely Asian twist on a traditional French dessert, as hotels around the regions will serve a Bavarois cake created by Ms. Lily Wang, Sofitel’s Greater China Regional Pastry Chef.
Sofitel has also partnered with the world’s leading premium alcoholic beverages company, Diageo, to host a cocktail competition for the hotel’s female bartenders around the region. Sofitel joins forces with Diageo, which is committed to increasing women’s knowledge and employability in the hospitality sector, delivering skills training as part of its community investment programme, Plan W. The winning creation, as judged by executives of both Sofitel and Diageo, will be served across Asia Pacific in the month of March and the bartender behind the winning entry will receive the opportunity to participate in a bespoke mentoring program, as part of the Diageo Bar Academy which focuses on developing great bartending talent across the globe.

In addition, select properties will host exclusive events to celebrate and honour the power of the modern women. At Sofitel Manila, guests would have the opportunity to witness the finest female weaver from Ilocos Norte as she creates beautiful traditional Abel Iloco, a traditional woven product of Vigan. Guests are invited to take part in the live demonstration of the Abel Iloco weaving which will start from the 16th to the 25th of March 2014 during lunch and dinner at Spiral. The Abel Iloco would also be the highlight of Ryan Madamba’s luxury resort collection. Ryan Madamba is a popular fashion designer who hails from Ilocos Norte. The live exhibition of the Abel Iloco weaving will culminate in a dinner fashion on the 25th of March at Spiral featuring Filipino women luminaries from the Ilocos region. Likewise, Ilocano specialties such as Ilocos Empanada, Longganisa and Bagnet Pizza will also be the highlight of the Filipino atelier at Spiral from 16th to the 31st March 2014.
Ladies availing the ‘So Relaxing’ package at Sofitel Manila will be receiving a special three strand freshwater pearl bracelet as an exclusive token. Freshwater pearls from the Philippines are among the highest quality in the world and a fitting gift for such significant occasion.
