The multi-talented Filipino actress Eugene Domingo received a Best Actress nomination at the prestigious Asian Film Awards (AFA) for her role in the film Barber’s Tales. The role had previously earned Ms. Eugene Domingo a Best Actress award at the 26th Tokyo International Film Festival in 2013.
Eugene Domingo will face stiff competition from 4 other nominees – Yoko Maki (Japan, The Ravine of Goodbye), Han Hyo-joo (Korea, Cold Eyes), Zhang Ziyi (Mainland China, The Grandmaster) and Hee Ching Paw (Hong Kong SAR, Rigor Mortis). However, Ms. Eugene Domingo is no stranger to the AFA, having been nominated in the Best Actress category in 2012 and winning the Most Popular Actress award via online voting. Her vast experience in the film industry will definitely help in her bid to win an award in the Best Actress category.
The AFA, dubbed the “Asian Oscars” for its prestigious status and scale, will be held on 27th March 2014 at Macau’s City of Dreams state-of-the-art Dancing Water Theatre. The award ceremony will honour the best of Asian films with 14 award categories. This year’s award ceremony at Macau sees a total of 73 nominations from 13 countries and regions.
