The biggest basketball charity event of the year is happening this July 22 and 23 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum with the Gilas Pilipinas taking on an elite group of US basketball superstars comprising the FIBR All-Stars team, and Sports5 is set to bring the much-awaited sports action to every Filipino home with the telecast of the event on primetime starting at 8PM on both days.

The PLDT Last HOME Stand charity event will be the last time of the Gilas Pilipinas in the country before they embark on their journey in preparation for the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain and the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. Gilas Pilipinas will be bannered by Jimmy Alapag, LA Tenorio, Larry Fonacier, Gary David, Jeff Chan, Gabe Norwood and Jason Castro. The frontline will be manned by naturalized player Marcus Douthit, Japeth Aguilar, Junemar Fajardo, Ranidel de Ocampo and Marc Pingris. Providing additional firepower for the team are Kevin Alas, Garvo Lanete, Beau Belga, Jay Washington and Paul Lee.

With Gilas Pilipinas captain Jimmy Alapag looking to match skills with the top players of the United States, the Philippine national squad will be thoroughly tested by the FIBR All-Stars comprised of the best US basketball players, led by Blake Griffin, Terrence Ross, Damian Lillard, Demar De Rozan, Kyle Lowry and Kawhi Leonard. Key additions to the team are Tyson Chandler, Paul George, Ed Davis, Nick Johnson, Ed Davis, and James Harden.

All-Star guard Paul George has vowed to give Gilas Pilipinas a real workout as quoted from his Twitter account.

Proceeds of the two-day exhibition matches will go the Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation and Caritas Manila. Tickets are still available at ticketnet.com.ph with ticket prices starting at P750.00. For more information, log on to lasthomestand.pldthome.com.
