Elisha Lawrence, currently AVP of Global Anti-Piracy & Content Security for ABS-CBN International, will be one of the 13 speakers at The IP Strategy Summit: Trademark & Copyright: Silicon Valley 2015 to be held on November 19 at the Crowne Plaza Palo Alto. Lawrence will speak at the Anti-Counterfeiting Strategies session with Martin Nguyen, General Counsel of BRG Sports.
ABS-CBN produces hundreds of daily television shows, news shows and films for its numerous television stations and for international distribution to the Filipino community living in over 100 countries. Lawrence has had major milestones in addressing the rampant piracy of ABS-CBN content, bringing in her over 25 years of experience as in-house Intellectual Property counsel creating and implementing anti-piracy/anti-counterfeiting strategies to mitigate risk and significantly increase sales in the US and globally for leading Fortune 500 organizations such as Levi Strauss, Twentieth Century Fox and Adobe Systems.
Lawrence also has experience prosecuting criminal cases as a District Attorney for the County of Los Angeles. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and a law degree from UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, CA. Some of the highlights of her career include:
• As Director of Global Anti-Piracy for Adobe Systems, she created and managed the second largest anti-piracy and licensing compliance team in the world which brought in over $100M/year in lost revenue for the company.
• As Manager of Asia/Pacific Anti-Counterfeiting for Levi Strauss & Co. she served on a Chinese governmental task force which greatly improved the anti-counterfeiting laws in China and her team seized over 2 million pairs of counterfeit jeans from various factories in China.
• As Director of Global Anti-Piracy for Beachbody, LLC., she developed strategy to destroy pirate sites and drive genuine sales of the P90X and Insanity products.
• As Counsel for Twentieth Century Fox, she created a global anti-counterfeiting program which successfully thwarted the global counterfeiting of the “Titanic” brand.
• As Director of Asia/Pacific Anti-Piracy for the Software Publishers Association, she represented hundreds of business software companies to create an Asia/Pacific program to stem software piracy of business, educational and entertainment software throughout Asia/Pacific.
