Now on its 33rd Season, Ateneo ENTABLADO stages its second production to present its socio-political advocacy. Entitled “Sandaang Panaginip”, the comedic and musical play revolves around characters that enter a fate of corruption, betrayal, reformed leadership and above all, love.
The play is written by Rene O. Villanueva, and directed by Jerry Respeto.
The play upholds selfless governance in the midst of great power and incorruptible awareness of great leaders to the true situation of a nation. It is in this regard that the play fulfills the theme “Makita Kang Sakdal Laya”, liberating one from corrupt and non-transparent leadership to run a progressive and proactive nation rooted towards national peace.
The play tells the story of the kingdom of Tralala ruled by King Alexander who, due to his chronic illness, had to pass the royal duties to his overly lavish second wife Queen Leona. Due to Leona and her daughters’ uncontrolled spending, the kingdom is burdened with an eight million bar debt to King Carlos of the kingdom of Parachibum, who sends his only son Prince Anshari to demand for payment. Yet another big problem was that King Alexander was oblivious about everything. Yasmin, King Alexander’s only daughter, becomes the last hope of the falling kingdom of Tralala.
The show runs on the following dates: October 6-9, 14-16, 20-23 at 7 PM, and October 10, 17 and 24 at 2 PM and 7 PM, at the Rizal Mini Theater, Faber Hall, Ateneo de Manila University.
