Spotify, the world’s most popular music streaming service, reveals that Chinese-South Korean pop group EXO broke almost half a million streams on debut day with the release of their highly-anticipated sophomore album, EXODUS.
With this milestone, EXO broke the record of highest debut day streams of an album from an Asian artist globally, previously held by Taiwanese Mandopop superstar Jay Chou when he launched his new album, 哎呦,不錯哦 (Aiyo, Not Bad), in December 2014.
Globally, Singapore ranks amongst the ten most popular Spotify markets for the album alongside Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines and as far as Brazil and the US.
“We would like to congratulate EXO on reaching this huge milestone,” said Chee Meng Tan, Label Relations Director, Spotify Asia. “We are looking forward to working with many more Asian artists to showcase their talent on the global stage.”
