“WeBuild” is Habitat for Humanity Philippines’ advocacy campaign which stems from its previous campaign, “IBuild”. WeBuild is set to fulfill our Vision2020 by further strengthening our purpose of providing decent homes to Filipino families in need.
The campaign will utilize an extensive communications program that seeks to encourage individuals and groups to work together with us in achieving our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
“It takes a concerted, conscious and collective effort to provide a sustainable solution to the cycle of poverty housing,” said Charlie Ayco, Habitat Philippines Managing Director and CEO.
WeBuild aims to strengthen existing partnerships, and mobilize people, government, corporations, various organizations, and communities to demonstrate innovation, efficiency, and scale in ensuring 15 million people across the Asia-Pacific region with decent and secure homes thus, alleviating poverty.
In the Philippines alone, there are almost four million families living in unsafe, unsanitary and unsustainable conditions. Through WeBuild we aim to reach 20 percent of this number by the year 2020: serving a total of 800,000 families by raising Php 5 billion and mobilizing 1 million volunteers.
“Habitat for Humanity Philippines believes that adequate housing provides a holistic solution to poverty and transforms the lives of communities we serve together,” said Ayco. “By providing families with decent homes, we are restoring hope and empowering the nation.”
