ABS-CBN’s noontime show “It’s Showtime” kicked off its sixth anniversary celebration with a jampacked show at the Smart Araneta Coliseum that featured the country’s hottest loveteams as well as popular stars from various afternoon and primetime shows.
Kapamilyas went full force in this event dubbed as “Showtime Kapamilya Day” just to show gratitude and give back to its loyal viewers who enjoy ABS-CBN’s programs not only in noontime but also in other time blocks. Netizens also showed their support after the episode earned more than six million tweets and landed on the top trending topics on Twitter worldwide.
The country’s hottest loveteams led the celebration with James Reid and Nadine Lustre (JaDine), Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano (LizQuen), and Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo (KathNiel) spreading “kilig” vibes all over the Big Dome that triggered loud cheers from their fans. This is the first time that these pairs shared the same stage in the same production number.
Kim Chiu and Xian Lim’s tandem, popularly known as KimXi, won’t get left behind as they also made the crowd giggle with their sweet song number.
“It’s Showtime’s” resident loveteam ViceRylle, meanwhile, also stole the scene and drew loud shrieks as Vice Ganda, who is dressed up as his rocker alter ego Viceral, stole a kiss from Karylle.
The “kilig” continued in the trending interactive segment “Nasaan Ka Mr. Pastillas?” as King of Teleserye Coco Martin, who is set to return to primetime this Monday (September 28) via “Ang Probinsyano”, serenaded Pastillas Girl after being introduced as another Mr. Pastillas applicant.
From Primetime Bida stars, Kapamilya Gold stars Julia Montes and EA Guzman of “Doble Kara” and Yen Santos and Arron Villaflor of “All of Me” also shared sweet moments on stage as they gave back-to-back song numbers to thank fans for consistently making their shows among the most watched programs every weekday afternoon.
The cast of “Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita,” meanwhile, did its part by gamely competing with the cast of primetime series “Pasion De Amor” in the lip sync battle segment “Lip Swak.” Richard Yap drew chuckles when he danced and played the yoyo in his Superman pajamas.
Teen idols from “Pinoy Big Brother 737” and Gimme 5 also took the challenge in “Clash of Celebrities” and performed ala-Abba and Menudo. In the end, Gimme 5 emerged victorious after being chosen by special judges composed of “Etiquette of Mistresses” stars Kim Chiu, Iza Calzado, and Claudine Barretto.
Other guests in “Showtime Kapamilya Day” include Melai Cantiveros of “Your Face Sounds Familiar” and JK Labajo with Esang, Sassa, and grand winner Elha of “The Voice Kids.”
Since “It’s Showtime” aired in 2009, the program has been sending good vibes every day through its hosts Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Billy Crawford, Karylle, Jhong Hilario, Kim Atienza, Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz, Ryan Bang, Coleen Garcia and Eruption.
