Steadfast in its commitment to deliver clean, safe and potable water 24/7 in the East Zone concession area even in times of calamities or disasters, East Zone concessionaire Manila Water Company, Inc. participated in the recent Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Bayanihan Summit organized by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).  The two-day summit gathered resource experts from different agencies to collaborate and address disaster-related issues during calamities and institutionalize a Rapid Emergency Telecommunications Team (RETT).

The summit was spearheaded by Lt. Col. Edwin Sadang of the OCD who led various technical working groups in drafting an official RETT field manual that can be used by the Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) and Incident Command Posts (ICPs) to facilitate communication at the national level down to the barangay level in terms of emergency response before, during, and after disasters.

Manila Water is an active participant in the summit and shared its service continuity expertise in disaster and risk management-related scenarios which included strengthening of system infrastructures against disasters to mitigate impacts to water supply provision.  Also discussed were stakeholder information and dissemination processes to ensure the flow of communications to different stakeholders especially during times of calamities.

The summit was capped by the turnover of the consolidated data gathered to be published in the official manual of RETT of the OCD.
