Letran did its part for the National College Athletic Association NCAA’s league championship. FEU held its end of the bargain for the UAAP. University of San Carlos upended the famed University of Visayas Green Lancers for the CESAFI crown early this year.

But are they strong enough to dethrone reigning national titlists, San Beda?

All three schools are gunning for the bigger fish which is being crowned National Champion, when the National Collegiate Championships start on Wednesday (December 9) at ABS-CBN Sports + Action and will run until December 17.

Other schools are also gearing up for a Cinderella run in the NCC with the likes of the NCAA’s and UAAP’s Final Four schools raring to take a shot at their respective champions. For the teams down south, the UV Green Lancers look to bounce back from a 2015 campaign that ended short if they are going to meet their tormentors later in the tournament.

Six schools, National U, JRU, Mapua, TIP, PATTS, and St. Claire, are vying for slots available to the Luzon-Manila qualifier to join the Elite Eight of the tournament with the Visayas-Mindanao qualifier. Automatically earning an Elite Eight berths are the three champion schools FEU, Letran, and University of San Carlos, and their runner-ups UST, University of Visayas and defending national champs, San Beda College.

The eight-day tourney will air two games until December 17 on ABS-CBN Sports + Action starting Wednesday (December 9) at 2PM and 4PM.
