Relive the controversial crowning moment that made headlines and watch how Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach conquered the universe this Sunday (December 27) in the replay of “Miss Universe 2015” on ABS-CBN.
After 42 years, Pia finally brought home the Miss Universe crown back to the country and defeated 80 other beautiful women from around the world for the most coveted beauty pageant title.
Throughout the competition, Pia consistently showed the world that she got what it takes to be the next Miss Universe and her answer to the final question sealed the victory for her.
“To be a Miss Universe is both an honor and responsibility. If I were to be Miss Universe, I will use my voice to influence the youth and I would raise awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness that is timely and relevant to my country, which is the Philippines. I want to show the world, the universe rather, that I am confidently beautiful with a heart,” Pia said.
Congratulatory messages for Pia instantly poured online from fans and even local and international celebrities right after the controversial announcement where host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner.
ABS-CBN President and CEO Charo Santos-Concio, who also made the country proud recently as well when she served as first Filipino Gala Chair of the prestigious International Emmy Awards, joined fellow Filipinos in congratulating Pia.
“Pia’s success is one of dedication and determination she held on to her dreams, worked hard, and along the way inspired people to keep believing in themselves. A Star Magic alumna, Pia is a true example of a Filipina who is “confidently beautiful with a heart,” said Charo in a statement released on “TV Patrol.”
