Resorts World Manila (RWM) executive and employees initiated and held a ‘6K Run for Charity’ recently at the Mckinley Hill Stadium in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig.
Led by RWM President and CEO Kingson Sian and RWM Chief Operating Officer Stephen Reilly, along with other executives and employees, and various partners of the integrated resort pledged cash donations and ran six kilometers around the stadium for a good cause.
Apart from promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, the event was able to raise Php1 million for the less fortunate children from Smokey Mountain, under the care and guidance of the Philippine Christian Foundation (PCF). A charitable institution founded in 2002, PCF aims to relieve poverty for children and their families who are living and working in depressed areas like dump sites and squatter camps in cemeteries.
PCF Executive Director Melissa Alipalo was also present during the activity along with several PCF kids who took turns sharing their stories with the participants. “It’s been fun and meaningful spending a wonderful morning with colleagues and spreading the positivity of fitness and wellbeing. But beyond that, we are extremely proud of the fact that we were able to gather overwhelming support and give back to the community,” says Reilly.
RWM has been reaching out to the children of PCF, wherein volunteer employees provide valuable learning and fun entertainment for the kids by sharing their talents and skills in storytelling, arts, music and dancing, and handicraft making.
