Sykes Asia, Inc., the pioneer in the call center industry in the Philippines just gave its employees more reasons to be happy this holiday season as it hosted its much-awaited year-end celebration where SYKESers had the chance to take home a total of more than P2Milllion worth of prizes during the event.
SYKES continued its annual tradition by going futuristic this year with the theme “SYKES FUTURE FORWARD: The SYKES 2015 Year-End Celebration” that brought around 5,000 Manila-based employees together. SYKESers filled the four halls of SMX Convention Center in Pasay last December 13 by showing up in their most fabulous “fashion-forward” style.
Latest gadgets were given away during the raffle draw where SYKESers had the chance to win 32” Samsung LED TV, Mac Book Air, Ipad Mini 3, iPhone 6, Go Pro, FujiFilm Instax Mini 8 and latest Samsung phones. Employees got a sweet surprise during the one-night only event when Dean Van Ormer, SYKES’ Vice President and Country Manager took the stage and picked a winner of the Php150,000 grand prize and additional two winners who each took home Php100,000.
As SYKESers celebrated all night, employees took this chance to showcase their talents in performing as four groups battled it all out on the dance floor in order to prove that one of them should reign as the Grand Champion in the Group Dance Competition. “Tribe of the Future”, “The B Crew” and “A List” all showed their dancing prowess where “True Sight of the Kaleidoscope” emerged as the winner.
Since this year’s theme is inspired with a futuristic look, SYKES employees all came dressed up in their most grandiose and futuristic style. Two SYKESers earned the applause of the crowd as they were held as Fashion Forward Winners, Rich Dingding (Male Category) and Gemma de Lima (Female Category).
As part of continuously encouraging its employees to live a well-balanced life, SYKES gave out two special awards that night to acknowledge the efforts of SYKESers. Whally Boy De Leon was given a trip for two to Boracay after he emerged as the winner in the “SYKES Fit & Fab Weight Loss Program”. Furthermore, the employee organization called “SYKESClista”
was named as “SYKES Choices Club” awardee for 2015 where its activities in promoting a work-life balance was acknowledged.
Meanwhile attendees of the event were delighted when characters of the much-talked about movie of the year, Star Wars, made an appearance that night. Dressed up in cloak and armed with the signature lightsaber, Van Ormer surprised the crowd in an action-packed fight scene between him and Mike Henderson, Senior Vice President, Regional Operations, APAC Operations. SYKESers all cheered on as the two executives of the company showed their talents in stage performing.
Another highlight of the event is the performance of one of the most popular bands in the country, “Ang Pambansang Banda ng Bayan”, Parokya ni Edgar who jammed with the employees.
The Year-End Party in Manila was held a week later after Cebu-based employees celebrated their own party at Waterfront Hotel last December 6 which was led by John Sneed, SYKES Vice-President for Area Operations and Global Services. To note, SYKES is the first BPO company to expand its network and operate in Cebu.
Aside from celebrating the company’s success this year, the annual Year-End Celebration served as SYKES’ way of thanking its dedicated employees for their contributions. Van Ormer said during the event, “Nothing is more important to me this night than spending time with all the employees of SYKES”. As SYKESers from different sites in Manila marched together to celebrate as one, the company reinforces its support for the employees’ camaraderie and work-life balance.
SYKES made history in the business industry in 1997 when it established its operations in the Philippines which now grew with more 13,000 employees. Eighteen years later, it is still as determined as before in conquering the future.
