Everyone wants a taste of home, and this statement is especially true with food. Every bite of favorite comfort classics usually feels like a hug, as if we were home with our families. Now, the South can have a taste of down-home cuisine with a modern twist as Mati’s Meat and Breads opens at River Park in Festival Supermall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
Mati’s Meat and Breads celebrates down-home family dining with its airy atmosphere and contemporary take on classic comfort food. It was established by Caron Santiago-Macasaet, daughter of Melo’s founder Melo Santiago, and her husband Chef Paul Macasaet. The restaurant is considered a subsidiary of Melo’s, serving a modernized, casual take on the Melo’s menu.
“We wanted to make something a little more casual, but still with the trademark quality of our brand,” says Caron Macasaet of the restaurant.
Moreover, Chef Paul describes Mati’s as a family brand, something that helps attract its target diners.
“We’re all about celebrating family dining at Mati’s because that’s exactly how we wanted to go for the restaurant. It’s just casual food from our family to yours given a modern twist,” he adds.
Being a subsidiary of Melo’s, the first restaurant in the country to use Angus beef and one of the most beloved steakhouses in the Philippines, Mati’s specializes in their steaks. Diners can choose from different cuts of USDA Angus beef that is cooked tableside in a cast iron skillet so that customers can judge the temperature and doneness for themselves. Another favorite is the salpicao served with garlicky wagyu rice.
For those craving for something a little more casual, there’s also the restaurant’s Mama’s Buffalo Wings, deep fried savory chicken glazed in a special sauce and served with a blue cheese dip. There’s also the Angus Burger featuring a 100% USDA Angus beef patty and served with fries. The restaurant also offers a unique twist to a Filipino classic with its Balut Aligue, an appetizer consisting of balut served on a hot pan with a salty red aligue sauce.
With the success of the Melo’s branch at Westgate Center, the Macasaets couldn’t think of a better location to establish Mati’s than Alabang. Festival Supermall provides a perfect spot to build their latest restaurant.
“River Park is just perfect for Mati’s because it has the relaxed vibe we’re looking for the restaurant. We feel like it’s a spot families can just visit and have fun in, something tat fits very well with the restaurant,” says Caron.
