Accenture in the Philippines has donated more than 50 computers to the Dela Paz National High School in Biñan, Laguna. The donation, through the company’s Computer Skills Training Program, is part of its celebration of its 30th anniversary in the Philippines. Accenture runs the Computer Skills Training Program in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), and the initiative is fully supported by the Department of Education (DepEd).

This is the first in what will be a series of donations of personal computers from Accenture. The company will provide a total of 1,000 PCs to 30 public high schools throughout the Philippines.

Lito Tayag, Accenture Country Managing Director, together with Dr. Marylin Muncada, PBSP Program Management Office for Education Head, and Mario Deriquito, DepEd Undersecretary for Partnerships and External Linkages, led the donation ceremony at the Dela Paz National High School.

“The Computer Skills Training Program is one way we are celebrating Accenture’s 30th anniversary in the country. It reflects our steadfast commitment to help improve the lives of our fellow Filipinos, particularly among today’s youth, by providing them direct access to an ICT-enabled learning environment,” said Tayag.

Aside from the computer donations, Accenture employee volunteers will also share their time and knowledge to teach and further update the existing computer skills of the students and the teachers at the 30 public schools.

“We thank Accenture, the Philippine Business for Social Progress, and the Department of Education for selecting our school as a beneficiary of this program. These computers will truly aid in our efforts as teachers to enrich the students’ learning experience,” said Ronald Bago, principal of Dela Paz National High School.

The Computer Skills Training Program is aligned with Accenture’s Skills to Succeed corporate citizenship initiative, which will equip more than three million people around the world with the skills to secure a good job or build a business.

Rafael Lopa, Executive Director of PBSP, added that the organization looks forward to continuing to work with Accenture toward a common goal of uplifting the lives of Filipinos.
