In the quest of improving the quality of life, Azalea Hotels and Residences has just been recently hailed as one of the awardees in the recently concluded World Tourism Day’s Accessible Tourism Forum. The event aims to educate the industry of a Barrier Free living, particularly to persons with disabilities and special needs.

The affair was in relation to the Accessibility Law or BP 344 which was promulgated in 1983. The act aims to enhance the mobility of disabled persons by requiring certain buildings, institutions, establishments and public utilities to install facilities and other devices to make their businesses accessible to all. Unfortunately after more than three decades, the said provision has failed to prosper. Thus the Department of Tourism wishes to relive our responsibility to recognize the needs and rights of our fellowmen with this Accessible Tourism Forum.

Out of all the hotels in the country, only nineteen (19) hotels merited the citation of D.O.T. as a PWD Friendly Establishment. Azalea Hotels and Residences is one of the very few institutions in the Northern Luzon Region to get this accolade. Accepting the award was Azalea’s Director of Sales, Richard T. Labiano, who has been in the hotel industry for more than 20 years and has handled the sales team of Azalea since its opening.

Azalea’s Group General Manager, Elisa Escobar, is more than proud of the said citation. “It is our aim to make all our Azalea Properties meet global standards… Ensuring that our hotels are accessible to everyone is just the first step in uplifting the quality of Philippine Tourism”, said Escobar. Ms. Elisa Escobar’s more than two decades in the hospitality industry has paved the way for Azalea Baguio to being a front runner in the tourism development of the summer capital.

Azalea Hotels and Residences Baguio is the first Hotel to merit a four – star rating in the northern region of the country. It has recently opened its doors in the Visayas region with Azalea Hotels and Residences Boracay in 2015. Soon they will spread their wings further down south with Azalea Davao and Cebu.
