Manila’s top bartenders showed off their mixing skills to come up with unique cocktails that will become the classics of the future at the Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition, held recently at the Buddha Bar last March 10, 2016.
Among the 5 contenders attempting to earn their spot in cocktail history, Richie Cruz of Café Enye Bar, Eastwood emerged victorious with his signature concoction, El Tindero a unique mix of 45ml Bacardi Gold, 25ml Coconut Juice/Water, 25ml Lager Beer,10ml Muscovado Syrup (2parts Muscovado and 1 part Water), 4 Dash of Apple Cider Vinegar and Dessicated Coconut with Muscovado Sugar (toasted). He earned the right to represent the Philippines in battling 35 other mixologists who will congregate in San Francisco in April 2016 for the Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail competition.
Manila’s top bartenders who made it to the finals include Richie Cruz of Café Enye Bar Eastwood; Mark Alvin Tolentino of Revel at the Palace Fort; Mark Jerrold Bernandino of Scarlet Fort; Marnell Masallo of Skye Lounge Fort; and Joey Cerdinia of The Exit Bar Makati.
Established in 2008, the Bacardi Legacy is a global competition that challenges the best contemporary bartenders in the world to create well-balanced, appealing and enduring drinks that will become part of the illustrious BACARDI Cocktail Legacy alongside classics such as the Daiquiri, Mojito.
The winner of the global competition will enjoy Bacardi’s support in furthering his career via opportunities to travel and work with the industry’s best in serving his original ‘Legacy’ cocktail creation at some of the finest bars in the world.

The Global Final on Sunday April 24 will conclude four days in San Francisco during which the group of talented bartenders from around the world will have participated in a schedule of events, rubbing shoulders with some of the true legends of the bartending world. BACARDÍ will host the finalists at a range of educational workshops tailored to hone their skills, before they present their own original interpretation of a modern BACARDÍ Legacy cocktail in the competition.
When they come together for the Global Final in San Francisco their new creations will be judged by a panel of highly respected mixologists and spirits experts looking for a cocktail that offers perfectly balanced ingredients, a timeless taste and preserves the spirit of the classic style of BACARDÍ rum.
