On April 14 and 15, 2016, the top electric vehicle industry players in the Philippines, together with some top EV players in the region, will once again converge at the Meralco Multipurpose Hall at Pasig City for the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit 2016. This will be lead-organized by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP).

EVAP President Rommel Juan disclosed that the theme for this year is “Investing in the EV industry towards a sustainable transport and closer regional economic integration”. “This fifth edition of the annual EV Summit aims to highlight models of synergetic business collaborations in the EV Industry which have the investment potential in generating both profit and positive social impact. On the side, member companies will put on exhibit their latest products and technological advancements”.

“EVAP has embarked on a program to have its member companies such as manufacturers, assemblers, suppliers, importers, dealers, fleet operators and battery makers collaborate to provide a complete electric vehicle transport solution to clients”, says Juan. “A typical transport solution package would include electric vehicles, battery swapping arrangements, charging stations, after-sales services, spare parts support, fleet management and financing. A crucial enabler of this collaboration is funding support from private and public financial institutions, something that is now available”.

He also disclosed that just like in previous EV Summits, EVAP expects to gather under one roof over 500 local and international participants composed of EV players, officials from national government agencies, heads of local government units, academic institutions and NGO partners in a high level conference and exhibition. “We expect that in an interactive environment, business alliances will be forged and foreign investors will joint venture with local EV players to manufacture locally what used to be imported EV parts. We surely will benefit also from the transfer of technology that will ensue”.

Juan said that EVAP promises that this 2016, it will bring the EV Summit to a higher level of dialog, partnership, collaboration and interaction. “We will also bring in not just players in the Philippines but stakeholders from all over the world to look at the country’s best and effective practices in modernizing our transport system. We can showcase our member companies with EV programs running in Makati, Filinvest Alabang, Muntinlupa, Las Pinas, Cavite, Naga and Boracay”.

“We want the whole world to come and see what we are doing in terms of electric vehicle adoption in the Philippines, especially in the area of mass transport application”, he concludes. “We therefore invite technology partners and funders to come in and invest in the Philippines. We aim to do this through the EV Summit as we aim to make the Philippines the EV hub of Asia”.
