After weeks of competition, singing heartthrobs Ford Valencia, Joao Constancia, Niel Murillo, Russell Reyes, and Tristan Ramirez were hailed the winners of talent-reality competition “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” Sunday night (December 11) during the show’s live finale.
They were officially introduced as BoybandPH, the name of the winning boyband, and performed together for the first time their first single “We Made It,” written by Kiko Salazar and produced by Star Music.
Niel was the first to be named the member of the boyband Saturday night (December 10) after having gained 98.63%, the highest from the combined public votes and scores of superstar judges Vice Ganda, Sandara Park, Yeng Constantino, and Aga Muhlach among the seven finalists.
On Sunday night (December 11), the scores were then reset to zero for their solo performances, with Russell (100%), Joao (87.81%), Ford (82.03%), and Tristan (69.27%) emerging victorious with the highest combined public votes and judges’ scores.
Other finalists Tony Labrusca and Mark Oblea, meanwhile, failed to get a spot in the boyband.
The five winners of “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” won exclusive contracts with Star Magic, recording contracts with Star Music, Yamaha motorcycles, and P5 million cash.
The two-night “Pinoy Boyband Superstar: The Grand Reveal” also featured a performance by award-winning singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, who was officially introduced as one of the judges of “Your Face Sounds Familiar: Kids,” which premieres in 2017. Judge Sandara also stunned viewers with her performance of her K-pop hit “Kiss.”
“Pinoy Boyband Superstar,” the Philippine adaptation of “La Banda” created by Simon Cowell, was hosted by Billy Crawford.
