“Mater Dolorosa” Is Cinema One’s Mother’s Day Feature

In celebration of Mother’s Day, families can enjoy an inspiring movie marathon at home as the leading cable channel in the country brings top caliber films perfect for Mother’s Day.

Award-winning Cinema One Originals film “Mater Dolorosa” will lead Cinema One’s roster of movies on Mother’s Day. Directed by Adolfo Alix Jr., the film revolves around the story of a mother, played by Gina Alajar, as she faces the greatest test when she takes over her husband’s crime empire. The film will premiere on Mother’s Day, May 8 at 10PM on Blockbuster Sunday.

Written by Jerry Gracio, “Mater Dolorosa” is an edgy family drama that portrays a mother’s love and protection for her family. The cast also includes Carlo Aquino, Alessandra de Rossi, Cogie Domingo, Felix Roco, Anita Linda, Bembol Roco, Rosanna Roces, Evelyn Vargas, Menggie Cobarrubias, Jason Abalos, Mercedes Cabral, Alwyn Uytingco, Kristofer King, Jess Mendoza, and Philip Salvador.

Among “Mater Dolorosa’s” recognitions were the 2013 Gawad Urian Best Director for Adolfo Alix Jr., the 2013 Golden Screen Awards Best Actress award for Gina Alajar, and the 2013 Star Awards for Movies Best Supporting Actor for Carlo Aquino.
