At only 14-years-old, “Pinoy Big Brother 737” Teen 2nd Big Placer Ylona Garcia already has the makings of a pop superstar. She also has the credentials to prove it.
Just last July, she simultaneously headlined a digital concert for ABS-CBN music portal OneMusic.ph and released her debut album under Star Music.
“It’s been my dream to record an album. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s an amazing opportunity to be given,” said Ylona, whose incredible singing prowess was first showcased in “PBB.”
Now tagged as the Next Teen Superstar, Ylona has come a long way from her first gigs in Sydney, Australia when she was only nine years old. She started out as a front act for Filipino artists performing in the country, such as Martin Nievera, Sarah Geronimo, and Gary Valenciano, and also got to perform with Toni Gonzaga-Soriano and Alex Gonzaga.
Now, she is using her voice and personal experiences to write and sing songs for teenagers like her.
Her album, titled “My Name is Ylona Garcia,” introduces listeners to a girl who is more than ready to conquer the world with her singing-songwriting talents.
Ylona’s album is a nine-track collection of pop love and inspirational youth songs, with compositions from Marion Aunor, Nica Del Rosario, Moira Dela Torre, and Jamie Rivera.
It also boasts four of Ylona’s compositions, namely, the smashing “Don’t Say Goodbye,” the self-empowerment anthem “Win the Fight,” and the bubblegum gem “Each Day.”
The album also shows how versatile Ylona’s voice as it leaps from one singing style to another across different genres.
Completing the track list are “Not Yo Bae,” the sweeping ballad “Fly Tonight,” advocacy song ”Stop the Bully,” a remake of “Stop Think,” a “Himig Handog” 2005 finalist song, and the catchy carrier single “Dahan Dahan Dahan Lang.”
The album is now available on Spotify, which also included Ylona on its Spotlight list of hottest new cats for 2016.
“My Name is Ylona Garcia,” produced by Rox Santos, will be available at record bars nationwide and online music stores worldwide on August 5.
